Áine Mulvey is a professional musician working as a mezzo-soprano, vocal teacher and choral director. She began her vocal studies at the DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama, and went on to study privately with Dr Veronica Dunne. Áine continued her studies in conducting, opera and vocal development with international luminaries including Simon Carrington (Yale University), Arlene Shrut (Juilliard School, New York) and Ildiko Herboly Kocsar (Kodaly Institute, Kecskemet). In 2012, she completed a Masters in Music Performance at the Petrie School of Music, USA, where she studied with Rebecca Turner. Áine has performed as soloist and conductor on BBC radio, Lyric FM and RTE radio and television, and appears as soloist in the Meditations and Reflections CD released under the Signum record label. Áine has worked with many of Ireland’s top ensembles, including the National Chamber Choir of Ireland, Christ Church Cathedral Choir, the RTE Concert Orchestra, and Opera Ireland. Recent recording projects include a number of restoration projects with the New World Records label including Eileen by Victor Herbert, the Rodgers and Hart musical Dearest Enemy, and Jerome Kern’s Roberta, due to be released in 2014.
Áine maintains a busy teaching practice and teaches private students as well as working in the Mater Dei Institute, Mount Sackville school and Sandford Park school as the resident Vocal Teacher. Áine also directs the Dublin Male Voice Choir, the Nas na Ri Singers, and is the director of music at Mount Argus Church in Dublin.
